THE ACURA INTEGRA TYPE S SPEEDS ITS WAY INTO PERFORMANCE LUXURY

Acura introduces a 320-hp, sporty-manual sedan that seems to be more polished than its Civic Type-R brother.

Over the past year, Japanese auto makers have been finally getting in tune in what people want in performance and driving experience. This year, Toyota finally has heeded to the calls of many enthusiasts and drivers alike by releasing its manual variant of its sports coupe, the GR Supra. Furthermore, even though Nissan is giving its new Z the same platform it has from its predecessors, the Z will feature a new refreshing look reminiscent of its old 240z ancestor. Now it appears that Honda/Acura will be releasing two high performance sedans in their both respective branding.

After its 16 year-hiatus, the Acura Integra came back with not so loving arms initially. People did not like the way the Integra was revitalized as a 4-door sedan after its archetypal 2-door figure previously. However, it seems that Acura won’t be backing down from the Integra nameplate anytime soon after it’s sales figures have steadied the past two months pushing out over 2,000 units.

The 2024 Acura Type-S offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder (K20C1) engine that releases 320-hp and 310 pound-feet of torque. The motor is shared with its Honda division compatriot, the Civic Type-R. But Acura has squeezed an extra 5 horsepower in which they say was thanks to their clever center-mounted triple exhaust set-up. The transmission is only offered with a six-speed manual and limited-slip differential as the Type-R. Acura has entirely ruled out an automatic transmission for it’s Type-S.

The new Integra Type-S will be 7.1 cm (2.8 in) wider than its respective base model with arched wide-body fenders providing the Type-S with a larger tire stance. Acura’s silhouetted Diamond Pentagon grille, vented hood, and aggressive front eats a large chunk of airflow in which Acura says has increased dynamic airflow by 170% therefore cooling its accompanied turbocharged engine and furthering boost pressure. Also, a gloss black diffuser and decklid spoiler will also enforce downforce improving aerodynamics.

Brembo 4-piston monobloc aluminum calipers will be this car’s stopping power with its 35 cm (13.8 in) front rotors and 30 cm (12 in) rear rotors. Inside, the Integra Type-S is pretty much the same compared to its A-Spec model but features a more luxurious UltraSuede steering wheel and a titanium shift knob. Also, Type-S owners will be able to jam out on the track with their favourite tunes with Acura’s premium ELS audio system.

Compared to its Type-R brother, the Type-S is slightly heavier in comparison weighing an extra 13 kg (31 pounds) to an already 1446 kg (3188 pounds) Civic. Also, the Integra Type-S is 13 cm (5.1 in) longer than the Civic Type-R.

Being that the Type-S will be assembled in Marysville Auto Plant in Ohio, the Integra Type-S offers a way more luxurious ride when compared to the Type-R. Needless to say that both cars are identically the same except for a few minor changes. The Type-S offers something that the Type-R and its competitors will never. That’s exclusivity. Acura being a brand that is only native to North America, gives the Type-S it’s huge advantage over the likes of its German rivals like BMW’s M235i xDrive and Mercedes-AMG CLA 35. In which both happen to not offer the driving experience of a manual-shifted car like the Type-S. With upcoming rivals like Toyota’s GR Corolla which is all-wheel drive, its safe to say that the Type-S earns its spot as the top dog in its respectable front-wheel drive category.

With the likes of the Type-R being priced at $50,000 CDN, the Type-S will be priced a bit more only giving its truly heated match up with its own sibling.

New 2023 Subaru WRX Rally Car Unveiled: Ready for the American Rally Association

Subaru has announced their 2023 WRX production car will be competing in the American Rally Association (ARA) alongside technical partner Vermont SportsCar. The rally car will be featuring a functional body kit and aerodynamical spoiler.  Due to some limitations poised by the ARA, the WRX will be boosting around 320-horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. That sort of power is enough for a car to zip through tough terrain while racing against the clock. In addition, all that power will be coming out of a Subaru 2.0 four-cylinder motor. Paired with the engine, it's unavoidable to not include a sequential transmission in which Subaru has done with this car. The car will have six speed derived from the folks from SADEV transmissions and motorsport technology. Allowing the driver to make q...

The Polestar Synergy Concept is a Electric-Utopian designed by Winners

Three Polestar Winning designs combined in a 1:1 scale model from Polestar's Design Contest. Polestar has unveiled a brand new electric concept supercar at the IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich. The car now named, "Synergy", is supposed to provide drivers a sensational one-seater experience powered by an all-electric powertrain. Sadly however, the car will only be for show and display as a concept model. Never to be put into production.   Polestar most notably a luxury division of Volvo, has based their entire lineup of vehicles on hybrid and electric technology. So, having a concept car based on their powertrain philosophy isn't really a surprise. What is surprising though, is the design language this vehicle embodies. The 1:1 scale model merges three different winning designs from Polestar's Design Contest. Excluding the other 600 entries that participated in the competition, Polestar required contestants to create a center-designed "experience of performance, p...
