World's First Production Megacar! Koenigsegg Gemera is One Head-Turning Rocket Machine

The Koenigsegg Gemera is a four-seat performance machine featuring an all-new teased Jesko V8 engine

The Swedish have done it again. Koenigsegg is beginning production with their new megacar the Gemera. Want more seats than cylinders? Buy a Gemera, if you got that kind of cash. This model produces 1677 horsepower with a turbocharged three-cylinder engine in which doesn't have any camshafts. Also, helping boost its power is an electric motor which provides 335 HP in total output.

In a recent press release, the founder Christian Von Koenigsegg, took to the stage to present an all-new drivetrain option for the upcoming Gemera. From 1677 horsepower to over 2,300 horsepower, the Gemera gains an optional V8 derived from its Jesko brother.

The V8 configuration was made possible due to the layout of its pre-existing LSTT (Light Speed Tourbillon Transmission). Koenigsegg managed to squeeze its V8 which already creates 1500 HP and paired it with their Dark Matter E-motor that also produces 800 HP. That gives the optional Gemera 2,300 HP and 2,750 Nm of torque which is a new world record for a production vehicle. The Dark Matter E-motor only weighs 39 kg, making it one of the lightest electric motor ever to be produced.  Koenigsegg has mentioned that the Gemera will still have a 4-wheel drive system and feature 4-wheel torque vectoring.

Power isn't the only thing that's impressive about the Gemera. Koenigsegg have fitted a 115L fuel tank giving customers the ability to drive for long periods of time, so you can enjoy the scenery when touring around the Swedish Alps. Four seats have been added in order to fit four fully-grown adults as well as four large carry-ons in its 200L luggage space.

Also offered are roof rack mounts, blind-spot detection, an incredibly clever infotainment system, 'Birds eye' parking assistance, and it's signature Koenigsegg automated Helix doors. What's also super cool about this car, is the fact that's got the same amount of cup holders as a Honda Civic but spices it up by adding a heating and cooling system ingrained in it.

The Koenigsegg Gemera is more than just an innovative-mega vehicle that can go fast. It's pushed the boundaries of hybrid-powertrain technology and has given the internal combustion engine glimpses of genius despite it's persecution under bureaucracy. It's an example of what is possible instead of what can be done. Truly inspiring and will definitely haunt those trying to either recreate it or replicate. It will be difficult for Koenigsegg to top this one, however the show must go on.
