Acura committed to Electrification: New Vision Concept Revealed

Back to back EV's revealed from Acura at Monterey Car Week

During Monterey Car Week, automotive enthusiasts and wealthy bidders got a chance to view some amazing historic racing legends as well as future concepts. Acura unveiled their new all-electric SUV, called the 2024 Acura ZDX. As Acura partners up with GM's Ultium platform, the ZDX is basically a identical twin of the Cadillac Lyriq.

With a standard dual electric motor set up, producing 500 horsepower, and a electric range of 120 km of a full charge. The ZDX competes in the North American market, hopeful to bash heads with top competitors like Tesla and Lexus. But this isn't the only thing Acura showcased during their stay at Monterey.

Acura teased an all-electric vision concept which flaunted a future signature silhouette of the brand's design language. Promising the market with an upcoming line of performance and spirited vehicles.

Acura creative director, Dave Marek, said the design team has been "dreaming up the future of Acura Precision Crafted Performance in the EV era." He continues, "This latest expression of an all-electric high-performance model is inspiring everyone in our studio to push boundaries and we wanted to share the fun with our Acura fans."

Even though, Acura and Honda enthusiasts are not positive on vehicles being entirely based on hybrid and electrification (take the NSX for example), it's still possible that Acura may create something new and exciting again.

The car now named, "Synergy", is supposed to provide drivers a sensational one-seater experience powered by an all-electric powertrain. Sadly however, the car will only be for show and display as a concept model. Never to be put into production.   Polestar most notably a luxury division of Volvo, has based their entire lineup of vehicles on hybrid and electric technology. So, having a concept car based on their powertrain philosophy isn't really a surprise. What is surprising though, is the design language this vehicle embodies. The 1:1 scale model merges three different winning designs from Polestar's Design Contest. Excluding the other 600 entries that participated in the competition, Polestar required contestants to create a center-designed "experience of performance, p...
