Three Polestar Winning designs combined in a 1:1 scale model from Polestar's Design Contest.
Polestar has unveiled a brand new electric concept supercar at the IAA Mobility 2023 in Munich. The car now named, "Synergy", is supposed to provide drivers a sensational one-seater experience powered by an all-electric powertrain. Sadly however, the car will only be for show and display as a concept model. Never to be put into production.
Polestar most notably a luxury division of Volvo, has based their entire lineup of vehicles on hybrid and electric technology. So, having a concept car based on their powertrain philosophy isn't really a surprise. What is surprising though, is the design language this vehicle embodies. The 1:1 scale model merges three different winning designs from Polestar's Design Contest. Excluding the other 600 entries that participated in the competition, Polestar required contestants to create a center-designed "experience of performance, providing an advanced technical story that enables this in a sustainable way."
Inspired by nature, such as the bonnet being reminiscent of a hammerhead shark, the final design of the concept car sits at 179.5 inches long and 42.1 inches tall. With these buoyant proportions and remarkable enclosed cockpit, the concept car has gotten a hold on electric vehicle design in the automotive industry.
The traction of the vehicle has even acquired the attention of Hot Wheels. Both Polestar and Hot Wheels have agreed to take the 1:1 version into multiple miniature toy versions. The Synergy will be shipped out to El Segundo, California, in October of this year. Hopefully, the Polestar Synergy will be the existential gateway to future iterations to come.
